Get $100 Free DigitalOcean Credit

One thing that you might notice about my site is that there is absolutely no advertising. Why? Well, I just don’t like it. I think that bloggers should write because they like to write, not because they are trying to ride the Google Gravy Train. I do, however, like free DigitalOcean credit that I can use to host this site and other projects I work on. So…. Create an Amazon Lightsail Server in 5 Minutes

If you follow my posts (even a little,) you know I’m a big fan of quick and easy virtual private servers, such as the virtual “droplets” over at Digital Ocean. I also use other virtual server hosts such as Vultr and Linode as well. All three services do a great job of allowing you to spin up virtual servers in a matter of minutes, and do so at very reasonable prices. WooCommerce – Display Newest Product Reviews First

With more than 1 million people using WooCommerce, it is one of the most-widely-used eCommerce solutions available. And, really the only viable option for most WordPress users. On a couple of the larger sites, I had been using PHP script to warm the caches to increase page load speeds. I wrote the script about 4 years ago, and it has performed flawlessly up until this latest WP update. I am not sure as to why just yet. I haven’t had the time to really dig in and investigate. As soon as I realized, though, that the code was broken, my heart sank. Warming the cache on a site …

End-to-End Encryption and What it Means for You

Talk about End-to-End Encryption is Everywhere These days, it seems that encryption is a popular topic, and for very good reason. Encryption is changing the way we communicate and transfer data and is, in general, a very good tool for protecting privacy and preventing others from viewing personal or otherwise sensitive data. While encryption-related stories are an everyday thing these days, many users still don’t actually really understand what encryption is or how it works. So, in this post, I will outline a few basics of real-world end-to-end encryption usage, how it works, and what you need to know to …
